President Report 2022– 2023
The 2022– 2023 year had its challenges and rewards.
The 3 main competitions that the club runs
Derwent Flathead Classic, we had 22 teams entered, fished in highly questionable summer weather. Many flathead were caught and released and fun had by all.
Tasmanian Broadbill Championships, 23 Teams entered with the first day cancelled due to terrible conditions. Days 2 and 3 were spent inshore chasing Tuna with many captures and multiple fish tagged and released. On the final day the weather opened up allowing the fleet to head to the shelf with 2 Swordfish captured both being Australian records.
Peninsula Challenge, Again 23 teams entered the event in a cracking day the weather allowed a full grid with teams going far and wide. Tas Trim managed a nice sword with many other teams chasing Tuna.
We continued to grow in strength, even though the Weather Gods at times didn’t make it easy, but in typical club style we did overcome the above and swept aside and managed.
Our membership stayed consistent to the previous year but hopefully with bigger events ahead the membership of our club will increase. The club has continued to grow strong relationships with the TGFA and especially with the Tuna Club of Tasmania and The Southern Game fishing Club.
A very big thanks to all of Our Sponsors who without their support we would not be able to deliver the prizes and services to our members. Please support those that support us.
